The New River Train – since 1993 together again. The  beginning of the band we find  in the early eighties in Czechoslovakia. The fascination of some tapes with American bluegrass music was the reason for five teenagers to start a bluegrass band and make their way to the top of the bluegrass scene  in the Czechoslovakia. 
1983 the fiddle player, Milan Kalcu, left the country and moved to Austria. The banjo player, Mojmir „Taras“ Sevcik, followed him in 1989. After the fall of iron curtain in 1989, the meeting of the old music friends was only a question of time.

Since 1993 New River Train has been playing constantly. Both Kalcu and Sevcik became Austrians whilst the three others are now able to commute wherever the gig takes them. The band has been going through a lot of concerts and and festivals in Austria, Germany  Czech republic, France, Denmark, Holland and Switzerland. 
Sharing the stage with Tony Trischka (USA), Radim Zenkl (USA) or Blue Highway (USA) in August 1998 count to the highlights of the carreer of New River Train.

Since 2001 some personal changes were made. In 2001 the guitar player and singer Michal Hromcik (CZ) and the bass player Tomas Kubin (CZ), in 2004 Milda Toman (CZ) and Filip Hromcik (CZ) joined the band. 
Since 2014 there is a new line-up again and another change of line-up in 2018 with the current members.

New River Train, seit 1993 wieder vereint. Gegründet in den 80´ Jahren in der Tschechoslowakei. Die Faszination mit amerikanischem Bluegrass war der Grund, dass fünf Teenager eine Band starteten und nationalen Ruhm erreichten. 1983 verließ der Geigen-Spieler Milan Kalcu das Land und floh nach Österreich. Mojmir „Taras“ Sevcik folgte ihm im Jahre 1989. Nach dem Fall des eisernen Vorhangs im Jahre 1989 war das Treffen der alten Freunde nur noch eine Frage der Zeit.

Seit 1993 spielt New River Train regelmäßig. Sevcik und Kalcu wurden zu Österreichern, während der Rest der Band in Tschechien blieb und lediglich zu regulären Treffen und Konzerten kommen. Die Band spielte auf einer Vielzahl von Konzerten in Österreich, Tschechien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Denmark, Holland und der Schweiz. Konzerte mit Tony Trischka (USA), Radim Zenkel (USA) und Blue Highway (USA) gehören zu den Highlights der Bandgeschichte.
Seit 2001 wurden mehrere Veränderungen durchgeführt, Michal Hromcik (CZ), Tomas Kubin (CZ) kamen hinzu. 2004 trat Milda Toman (CZ) und Filip Hromcik (CZ) bei. 
Seit 2014 besteht neue Zusammensetzung der Band, die sich wieder 2018 verändert.
